This is the original post I posted months ago. I'm updating it a bit, and putting it into the new thread.
A little introduction... my name is Runic and I have been a business owner (6 total) since 1994. I'm in the middle of selling my current business and starting a new one, that includes airbrush tattoos. I have been a member of two other airbrush tattoo forums for quite some time now, and I have researched 4 companies in the business. I'm going to share with you my conclusions, and I'm sure you will all agree:
1. Hands down, EBA offers the ultimate (ok, for you hip people I'll insert 'sickest'!) flash around. Sure, you can spend a few dollars less and order flash and stencils from a variety of different companies (and some just sell you the stencils and a CD with the 'flash' on it so you can print out your own flash), but if you want to look and BE professional, there's nothing that even comes close. One look at an EBA flash poster in real life with leave you drooling, and envious if your currently doing this business without EBA's flash and stencils.
2. There's another company that sells a multi-color changer (rather than name the company and product, I'm sure you'll know who it is) that uses a single airbrush. Sure, it's a little easier to only have to clean one airbrush after a day's work, but let me throw out a few things to consider (and most of these have been from testing the product and synopsizing the reviews from users as well). 1. If your device breaks, becomes inoperative or what-have-you, you are done. Finished. Now you're in a pickle, because you're at an event, store-front or otherwise and you can't finish making your money, and you've probably lost money since you had to pay to 'be in the show'. 2. You are going to be wasting a ton of alcohol spraying in-between colors. 3. It's very difficult for the white to actually be white (what good is that?). There are many more reasons I could give, but I think 3 is good to start with. And if you're really concerned about cleaning 8 or more airbrushes after a days work, then invest a little money in ultrasonic cleaner.
3. I have not seen any other company that offers an out of the box set-up like EBA. With the other companies, their flash is sort of a busy eye-sore; you have to get your own table/cart, display holders/hangers and EZ up tent (if you're looking at doing outdoor events), etc.
4. EBA's inks/color choices: Hands down these stand out from any other ink. Last September I was in Las Vegas researching companies that would eventually be incorporated into my future business, and was fortunate enough to be air tattooed by a few different companies. The brilliant colors from an EBA vendor, and more selection of colors were hands down the best of who tatt'd me.
I could ramble on, but rather than do that, I will post more later and go into greater details. I encourage anyone who's in the market to think about the following: Is saving a few dollars on equipment (yet having to pay more in the long run by purchasing tables/carts/flash holders/tents/etc) up front, worth loosing tons of money in the long run? If you put an EBA Tent with 8 brilliant flash posters on it, and a professional looking cart next to someone elses product at an event, who do you think will be the hit of the crowd? Most definitely you. If you question what I say, just take a look at some other forums and look at some of the pieced-together set-ups. I'm not knocking anyone who's trying to be a great business person, but having dealt with business promotion and customer service for the past umpteen years, it's best to think things out and set goals. If it means you saving money for an extra month before you purchase your system, then do that. In the long run, you'll be much more successful and make more money than you ever would have by just piecing systems together.
If you have any questions about anything, including business setups, promotional ideas (beyond what EBA includes, which is a lot) or whatever, feel free to PM me and I'll be glad to help you in any way that I can.
***UPDATE*** Many of you know there are a few other companies out there selling Temporary Airbrush Tattoo Systems. Here is what you need to look at, and seriously consider BEFORE you shell out thousands of dollars to a company.
1. Does the company offer 'flash' that is eye appealing and will literally STEAL business away from a competitor? (I've done several fairs/festivals where there have been other vendors there using sub-par flash and below sub-par equipment and have literally put them out of business at that fair). EBA has the ONLY flash that will steal your competitors business.
2. Does the company offer ink that will WOW the customer? Don't fall for claims of 2 week ink. What good does it do if the ink looks fake/like #%^&? EBA ink hands down is the best ink in the business. Don't believe me? Call EBA and ask for a sample. It's no wonder people who have bowed down to other companies are secretly (and non-secretly) switching from the 'other company' to EBA.
3. Is the company you are going to buy your system from ACTIVELY in the Airbrush Tattoo Business, or do they just sit in an office and reply to emails/forum postings (and some rudely, or wont even reply at all) and have NO clue what the public wants, because they are stuck in their little cubicles...and possibly creating some lame game that they try to force on their clients who want nothing to do with it?
4. Do you want a one-stop shop for ALL of your needs? EBA is by far the BEST company because they offer not only the products, but the business necessities to go with it. What other company has their own branded 10x10 or 10x20 Event Tent? What other company has Licensed WB Stencils?
5. Quality - As you may have read in other places, the quality of products being shipped out (both equipment and ink) has had issues beyond belief. If you want to skip worrying weather or not you wasted money on items that may, or may not work. Then EBA is the only way to go.
If you are new to this forum, you might be thinking...man, that Runic guy must work for EBA. Nope, I don't. You can search this forum and find a post about that. Don't believe? Call EBA, give them your number and I will personally call you to discuss the issue. I don't live anywhere near California. I just happen to be passionate about this business, about the products (as I have seen 4 different companies products used and wouldn't spend a dime with 3 of them), and passionate about helping others succeed in in their business venture(s).
If you have any questions at all, feel free to email me at runic[at]runicstribe[dot]com (replace the obvious) and I will reply as soon as I can. I do own/operate 2 other businesses so please be patient for a reply (normally within 2 biz days).
Happy Tatting.
